Hello! Dobry den! Buongiorno! Buenos días! Bom dia!

My name is Martin Pastor, and I am blessed to serve as the new music teacher at St. Ignatius. This is my 16th year of teaching, and I know without a doubt that God has brought me here for a reason: to help bring students closer to Christ through music — and to have a lot of fun along the way! I hold both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Music Education, along with a pedagogy certificate in Kodály, Orff, and Dalcroze.

I have taught in both public and private schools, in Maryland, and even internationally. For 10 years I was blessed to teach music in Bermuda — an experience that will always be part of our family’s story and hold a special place in our hearts. My family roots also stretch overseas, as my mom is from Slovakia, where I lived for part of my childhood. Because of this, I love meeting people from different countries and learning new languages.
In addition to teaching, I serve as the music director for St. Ignatius Church. If you hear me singing at weekend Masses, please stop and say hello! My wife and I, along with our three children, are grateful to be part of the St. Ignatius community. Outside of school, I enjoy playing and coaching soccer and volleyball, DJing for school dances, and staying active in the community.
